Update (7/22/26): The Free The Youth x Air Jordan 16 collaboration has a new release date. The pair will first debut via FTY on August 1st, while another launch will occur via SNKRS on August 15th.

Jordan Brand will explore, in their words, “forgotten retros” in 2026, by re-releasing the model in new colorways and collaborations. One of the pairs that will return is the Air Jordan 16, which last released in 2020. For 2026, the first pair to leak will be a collaboration with Free The Youth. We received exclusive details on this upcoming partnership.

Free The Youth was founded by Jonathan Coffie, Kelly Foli, Winfred Mensah, and Richard Kweku Ormano. Initially created to empower Ghanaian and all African youth, connecting the art scenes around the world with Ghanaian-inspired street-style fashion and culture. First, they started by showcasing style via social media. However, they have grown to become a multi-branched company, which includes a fashion brand.

In 2025, Free The Youth teamed up with Jordan Brand to help celebrate the 40th Anniversary, via a campaign that spawned photos and a commercial. However, for the first time, the two will team up to release a signature shoe.

This Air Jordan 16 by FTY features tumbled leather on the shroud and Orange mesh-like detailing around the heel. In addition, most of the upper is covered in a Greyish-White hue. Now the real magic shows once you remove the shroud. On the base, it has an Orange to Black gradient, with the brand’s “FTY” logo. This pair will also come with Neon Green detailing on the heel, the “Free The Youth” logo on the lateral side, and a Black rubber outsole.

The shroud is also reversible. The outside features Silver throughout, while the inside has large bird wings in Orange and Blue. To further the theme, it features special packaging based on the Jordan face box, while the tissue paper comes with cargo that you see on a ship.

Initially scheduled to launch on June 13th, the Free The Youth x Jordan 16 will now drop on July 17th.
