Privacy Policy — ClosetKept

1. Who we are

ClosetKept is operated by ClosetKept LLC (“ClosetKept,” “we,” “us”), a limited liability company formed under the laws of Ohio, United States. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using closetkept.com (the “Service”) you agree to this Privacy Policy.

2. Information we collect

Account data. Email address (via Supabase Auth), optional display name and avatar, and — only if you opt in to SMS restock alerts — a phone number. Sign-in uses an email address and password. ClosetKept never sees or stores your plaintext password: Supabase Auth holds a salted hash on our behalf.
Billing data. Stripe processes all payments. We receive a customer ID, subscription tier, and last-4 of the payment method; we never see full card numbers.
Closet data. Items you save (photos, brand, model, SKU, purchase price, condition notes) plus tags and outfits you create. Stored under Supabase Row-Level Security so only you and ClosetKept administrators with explicit support tickets can read it.
Conversation data. Messages you send to the ClosetKept Concierge AI assistant, plus the model’s responses. Retained for service quality and to bill against your tier’s usage limits.
Usage analytics. Plausible Analytics (cookie-free, privacy-respecting) and Google Analytics 4. We log page views, custom events (signup, upgrade clicked, drop saved, restock subscribed), and aggregate session metrics. No personally identifying analytics fingerprints. Google Analytics only stores a cookie or device identifier after you accept analytics cookies — see section 5.
Transactional email. Resend delivers account emails (magic link, restock alerts, billing receipts). Logs are retained for 7 days for deliverability debugging.
Push notifications. If you opt in to restock or drop-launch notifications, we store a VAPID web-push subscription record tied to your account. You can revoke at any time from account settings.

3. How we use your data

To operate, maintain, and improve the Service.
To personalize recommendations from the AI concierge based on closet contents and conversation history.
To send transactional emails (account, billing, restock alerts) and, with your opt-in, marketing emails.
To enforce tier limits and prevent abuse (rate limiting, anonymous search counters).
To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use closet contents or conversation history to train third-party AI models.

4. Third-party services

The Service depends on the following processors:

Supabase — database, authentication, storage. US region.
Stripe — payments and billing.
Anthropic — Claude model inference for the AI concierge and AI search.
Vercel — application hosting and edge delivery.
Plausible Analytics — privacy-friendly usage analytics.
Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC) — usage analytics. Runs in consent-denied mode until you accept analytics cookies; advertising features are disabled.
Resend — transactional email delivery.
SendGrid (Twilio Inc.) — delivery of contact-form messages.
Shopify — product catalog and storefront data for the shop.
Twilio — SMS delivery and phone-number verification for restock alerts. Only used if you provide a phone number and opt in to SMS; ClosetKept does not send marketing texts.
Affiliate networks (eBay Partner Network, Amazon Associates, Skimlinks, CJ, Impact, AWIN, ShareASale, Rakuten) — clicks on retailer links may be tracked by the destination network for commission attribution.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

Strictly necessary cookies. First-party cookies required for authentication (Supabase session) and CSRF protection. These are always set and cannot be declined while you are signed in.

Analytics cookies. Google Analytics 4 sets a first-party _ga cookie to measure how the Service is used. How it starts depends on where you are: in the EEA, United Kingdom, and Switzerland, analytics is off by default — Google Consent Mode is initialized with analytics storage denied and nothing is stored on your device unless you choose “Accept” in the cookie banner. Everywhere else, analytics cookies are on by default, and you can turn them off at any time with “Decline” in the same banner. Declining works the same way in every region: Google Analytics then receives only anonymous, aggregate pings with no cookie and no identifier stored on your device, and your choice is remembered. You can reset it by clearing this site’s data in your browser. Plausible Analytics is cookie-free. We never enable Google advertising features, ad personalization, or ad data sharing.

Third-party cookies. Affiliate networks may set their own cookies when you click an outbound retailer link — those are governed by the destination’s privacy policy.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict processing of your personal data (GDPR for EEA/UK residents; CCPA for California residents). You can exercise most of these rights directly:

Access / export — Account settings → Export my data.
Delete — Account settings → Delete my account. Permanently removes your closet, conversations, billing record, and notification subscriptions.
Correct — Edit account fields directly from Account settings.
Unsubscribe — Footer link in any marketing email; account settings for push notifications.

7. Data retention

We retain account data as long as your account is active. Closet contents and conversation history are deleted within 30 days of account deletion. Anonymized aggregate analytics (page views, event counts) are retained indefinitely. Billing records are retained for 7 years to meet US tax-record requirements.

8. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact closetkeptapp@gmail.com and we will delete it.

9. International transfers

The Service is hosted in the United States. By using it from outside the US, you consent to your data being transferred to and processed in the US.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will notify you via email and post a notice in the app at least 7 days before the change takes effect.
