First Look At The Air Jordan 3 “Sports Renaissance”

Take another one off the board of “Jordan leaks.” After being added to the calendar as early as last winter, the Air Jordan 3 “Sports Renaissance” has finally come to light, offering more proof to take those early reports with a grain of salt. To the credit of those sources, the shoe keeps to the originally reported color scheme of deep blue and bright red, but focusing on the palette here would be burying the lede.

The central selling point of this pair is twofold. First, it leans into a mismatched concept, with the rich aquatic base contrasted by bright red accents on the right shoe and light blue accents on the left. Further, the leather comprising most of the real estate belies some genuine material experimentation in the margins, utilizing synthetic mesh on the eyestays and collar and what appears to be ribbed elastic on the tongue. Double lace options are also displayed in these initial shots.

All of these unorthodox choices only amplify questions about what the narrative inspiration for this shoe might be. To our eye, the most obvious candidate is basketball shorts, but exactly how that might connect to the title remains unclear.
