Pokémon Celebrates Its 30th Anniversary With The PUMA Suede “Pikachu”

PUMA is celebrating one of entertainment’s most recognizable franchises with the upcoming Pokémon PUMA Suede, a special-edition release honoring the 30th anniversary of the global hit anime. Reimagining the brand’s iconic Suede silhouette through the lens of its most recognizable mascot, the sneaker pays tribute to Pikachu with playful details inspired by the electrifying sidekick whose lore is as deep as the series itself.

Although the shoes may appear like your classic Suedes, PUMA pulled out some key stops to validate the $300 price-tag. The upper is highlighted by a reflective lightning bolt-inspired Formstrip, while a custom Pikachu lace charm and the franchise’s signature “Gotta Catch ’em All!” slogan printed across the midsole further emphasize the collaboration. The release also arrives in premium specialty packaging designed with collectors in mind, much like how the brand launched the Mewtwo PUMA Suede last holiday season.

Here’s where you can cop: Pokémon fans will have an early opportunity to purchase the $300 sneaker release at a special launch activation on July 25, taking place from 12 PM to 8 PM EST at 101 Union Street in Brooklyn, New York. Information on an  additional release will follow later.
