The Converse Shai 001 Premium “Slither” Drops in July

Converse and SGA are moving away from the initial tonal colors of their Shai 001 basketball shoe, presenting new patterns for Summer 2026. Among the fresh styles is the “Slither” premium edition, coming in July.

Converse’s return to the NBA court with a player signature shoe was a huge move by the iconic brand. Launched last year, Converse worked with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to create a player model that fused SGA’s needs for a contemporary court sneaker that also works off-court, aligning with his sense of style and fashion. The initial run of releases for the 001 came in tonal color executions, which paired will with the shoe’s minimalist design. The monochromatic streak was broken in March with the camouflage “Echo” release, and now the shoe’s Premium edition is dropping in a new patterned “Slither” style. This pair uses faux python leather across the entire upper as well as the heel insert, adding a tan midsole tooling to complete the look.

The next release of SGA’s Converse Shai 001 Premium edition is scheduled to release this Summer, on July 14th, 2026. The new pair gets a makeover in faux python leather uppers, dubbed “Slither”, and will release from both Converse, via the SNKRS app, and select retailers for $150.
